Shang Gadhen Choekorling was one of the great seats of Buddhist scriptural studies in Tibet before 1959. However, here in Pokhara, Nepal, we have around fifty students who have a burning desire to take part in modern education, besides the excellence of Buddhist traditional education.

Students are being failed due to the lack of basic school facilities and needs which are essential for an active and effective participation in both the present day and the world of tomorrow.

This plan has two essential aspects:

1. Improving the health and physical condition (diet) of the young monks.
2. A more contemporary and holistic curriculum of study.

In order to accomplish the plan, the Shang Gadhen Monastery needs your help and support in the following:

• Sponsorship for the training of one or two monks in any health project, to provide trained personnel for the Shang Gadhen Dispensary.
• Contribution of medicine for Gadhen Health Project.
• Sponsorship for food of individual monks, enabling them to partake in a balanced diet. For an individual monk per month - US$ 20.

• Sponsorship / stipends for teacher for the school. Each teacher per month - US$ 50.
• Opportunity for volunteers to come to live and teach at Gadhen Thoesam School for six months or a year, receiving free classes in Tibetan language, and traditional education.
• Sponsorship for school text and note books.
• Contribution of books for school library.

• Sponsorship for installing a solar water heater and tank on top of the monastery.

• Donate land to build a retreat facility USA.
• Donate land to expand monastery and build school in Nepal.

• Donate computers, video camera, and office equipment.
